Awwww, Frenchi *gives Frenchi a big hug* I know how you feel. Two years ago, my grandmother passed away due to Alzhiemers. It was so hard to watch her, at the end, her mind and memories were completely gone. I'll be praying for you and your family.

It is just over a year ago that my Grandmother died of a long standing lung infection, and I have to say that I really enjoyed her funeral.
I know that sounds kinda sick and disrespectful, but the way we sent her off just felt like a very wonderful spiritual thing, rather than the depressing morbid ritual that funerals usualy are. It was the most beautiful Febuary morning, not a cloud in the sky and a thin layer of frost all over the ground. The church was very full as she was very respected in the community, all of us grandson's gave reading and then my Uncle wrote a uligy that illustrated just what an interesting life she had led and what a wonderful person she was. When we took her coffin to be buried the prosession was lead by the monks from the local abbey which she used to donate to and then we all went back to my Aunts and toasted her memory with several cases of champange. My mother and Aunt sang, and we all told stories from our past with her.
Yes there were tears but everything felt so perfect it almost felt like she was looking down from heaven orchestrating everything so it went just how she would have liked it and how she would want to have been remembered. What I am trying to say Frenchie is that funerals don't have to be as depressing as you think. It all depends on how you want to remember the deceased. That particular funeral put a perfect seal on my memories of my Grandmother, rather than leaving me with a foul taste in my mouth like other funerals I have been to have.
I am very sorry to hear of your loss, and I send my condolenses to both yourslef and to your parents. I know we ae all just cyber-friends on here and none of us really know each other, really. But if you need some where to write what your feeling or just vent some frustration don't be afraid to use us as sounding boards. We all have e-mail addresses and we are all here to listen and help.

Aww, that's so sweet Mit.
You're gonna make me cry. When my grandma died, a year ago next week, we had her cremated. She died during Spring Break, didn't get to see me graduate high school. All of my friends, two of the councilors and teachers were very helpful and understanding. (considering that one of the councilors, had know me since I was like in 1st grade, and had known that my grandma had helped raise me, it meant a lot.)
She had goton her tummy tucked, and when she was at home she fell down outside and we guess that's how she got the infection that killed her. She always said that she wanted to be cremated, that she didn't want to be alone. We got her a beautiful green urn with a flower patteren on it. (She liked plants) She now sits on a table in my grandpa's living room.

I haven't lost a family member yet, if you don't count any of the turtles, but I'm feeling for you. My Grandfather on my mom's side is really ill, and as he gets worse, so does my Grandma. Once he leaves, I don't know how long Grandma will be able to go on.
*sigh*

Several years ago, my grandmother almost died due to heart complications. She was perfectly fine (drove, lived by herself, etc.), but one Sunday she started having chest pains. By that Thursday, we absolutely thought she would pass away. Miraculously (and I say that quite literally), God allowed her to come through. She is now in a nursing home but is well cared for and has a good quality of life. She is lucid, and I see her about once a week.
It is funny how life can turn on a dime. We just have to put our faith in God that He'll see us through; He's seen me through a lot! I know He'll keep you, Frenchie, and everyone here. You'll all continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

I was going to just ignore this thread completely, I have many relatives that have died, but since I don't remember actually meeting most of them... anyway...
